Here’s what the opportunity supported through our TGS Talent Acquisition Team requires: Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Data Engineer with strong expertise in Microsoft Fabric and Azure analytics ecosystem to design and deliver modern, scalable data platforms. The ideal candidate should be a good team player with 8 or more years of experience in data engineering with Microsoft technologies, deep hands-on expertise in Microsoft Azure Fabric platform (OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Factory pipelines, Synapse Data Engineering, Power BI), and preferably some experience with Azure AI/ML services. This role requires expertise in designing, developing, and deploying secure, scalable, and high-performance cloud-native analytics solutions, mentoring engineering teams, and close collaboration with architects, AI Engineers, Data Scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver impactful, data-driven solutions. This position will require up to 50% travel to customer sites as per project need. Essential Functions

  • Actively involved in requirement gathering workshops from customers, translating the functional requirements into technical solutions, and translating complex technical concepts into actionable insights for stakeholders
  • Actively participates in architectural discussions independently or under guidance/supervision from Practice Architect to design and develop effective, efficient, reliable, secure, scalable, and cost-optimized data engineering solutions as per the overall data management strategy
  • Design and implement modern data platform architectures using Microsoft Fabric, including:

o OneLake-based data Lakehouse architectures o Data Factory pipelines within Fabric o Synapse Data Engineering and Data Warehousing experiences

  • Develop scalable data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration pipelines using Fabric-native tools and Azure services
  • Design high-performance Lakehouse and Warehouse models following best practices (medallion architecture, dimensional modeling)
  • Integrate Azure services such as Azure Data Factory, ADLS Gen2, Azure SQL, Databricks (optional)
  • Build interactive and scalable Power BI semantic models and reports integrated with Fabric
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps/GitHub) for data and analytics workloads
  • Ensure adherence to data governance, security, and compliance standards
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, drive best practices, and lead POD delivery
  • Contribute to solution accelerators, reusable frameworks, and pre-sales activities
  • Create prototypes and evaluate emerging tools and methodologies to drive innovation within the team
  • Occasional support to Sales and Pre-Sales partners to convert opportunity to revenue through thought leadership in the designated area of expertise

Mandatory Skills/Competencies

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 8 or more years of experience in Data Engineering, with at least 3 or more years in Azure ecosystem
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Microsoft Fabric, including:

o OneLake & Lakehouse architecture o Data Factory in Fabric o Synapse Data Engineering / Data Warehousing o Power BI integration with Fabric

  • Proficiency in Python, PySpark, SQL, and Spark-based processing
  • Strong experience building data pipelines (batch and streaming)
  • Expertise in data modeling (star/snowflake schemas, medallion architecture)
  • Experience with Azure data services:

o Azure Data Factory / Synapse Pipelines o ADLS Gen2 o Azure SQL / SQL MI

  • Experience in CI/CD, version control, and DevOps practices
  • Strong understanding of data governance, security, and access control (RBAC, IAM, encryption)
  • Experience working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data sources
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with product managers, business stakeholders, and engineering teams
  • Passion for staying updated with the latest cloud and AI/ML technologies and ability to evaluate and adopt emerging tools and methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft certifications such as:

o Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate o Fabric Data Engineer Associate o Azure AI Engineer Associate o Azure Solutions Architect Expert

  • Experience with Databricks or Synapse Spark pools
  • Familiarity with real-time analytics and streaming architecture
  • Exposure to data governance tools (Purview or equivalent)
  • Experience in building enterprise-scale data platforms

Supervisory/Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead POD/team delivery and ensure high-quality, timely execution
  • Mentor junior engineers and conduct knowledge-sharing sessions
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (planning, retrospectives, backlog grooming)
  • Function as a technical point of contact for stakeholders and clients
