Event Coordinator (Volunteer)

Volunteer Event Coordinator Builders & Backers Network is looking for volunteer support as we grow our event community across Southern California and beyond. We host networking events for founders, investors, creatives, operators, executives, and business leaders. Our goal is simple: bring ambitious people into the same room and create better in-person connections. This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity. There is no fixed schedule, no minimum hour requirement, and no expectation that volunteers commit to ongoing shifts. Any time, skills, or help you are willing to contribute would be genuinely appreciated. What You Can Help With Depending on your interests and availability, volunteers may help with things like:

  • Finding and researching potential venues
  • Reaching out to venues and helping coordinate event details
  • Finding potential sponsors, partners, and local brands
  • Helping with guest check-in, setup, and teardown at events
  • Supporting event promotion and community outreach
  • Helping create or organize social media content
  • Coordinating with speakers, sponsors, vendors, or attendees
  • Taking photos or short videos during events
  • Helping improve the event experience before, during, and after each event
  • Bringing new ideas for how we can make the community stronger

You do not need to have event experience. We are mostly looking for people who are reliable, friendly, proactive, and interested in helping build a real business community. Why Volunteer With Us Volunteering with Builders & Backers Network puts you directly in the room with founders, investors, executives, entrepreneurs, operators, creatives, local business owners, and other high-value professionals across multiple markets. We are happy to help make thoughtful introductions when appropriate. Before events, volunteers may be able to see who is expected to be in the room and let us know if there are specific people, companies, industries, or types of connections they are hoping to meet. When possible, we will help prioritize those introductions. Volunteers may also have opportunities for visibility through Builders & Backers Network, including being recognized for their contributions, getting exposure to our community, and, where appropriate, having their business or work promoted through our network. We currently operate across markets including San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, and Phoenix, giving volunteers the opportunity to build relationships and get exposure beyond just one local area. You will also be around experienced people across technology, events, business, food and beverage, law, partnerships, and community building. This is a strong opportunity to learn by being close to real events, real sponsors, real operators, and real business conversations. Who This Is Good For This could be a good fit if you are:

  • Trying to build experience in events, partnerships, sponsorships, marketing, partnerships, sponsorships, or community operations
  • Someone who enjoys connecting people and helping things run smoothly
  • Interested in building relationships across San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, or Phoenix
  • Available occasionally for remote support, event prep, outreach, or in-person event support

You do not need to live in one specific city to volunteer. Some work can be done remotely, but volunteers will get the most out of the opportunity if they are able to attend events near them when possible. Important Volunteer Details This is a volunteer role with Builders & Backers Network. Volunteers are not employees, contractors, or paid staff. This opportunity does not include wages, salary, benefits, commissions, or a promise of future paid employment. Volunteer participation is optional and flexible.
