  • Individually acquire and evaluate book proposals and research the efficacy, opportunity, distinctiveness, and risk of potential acquisitions, including running p&ls, negotiating contracts, pulling competitive titles, and creating title sheets.
  • Engage and partner with authors to fully realize their vision, collaborating throughout the acquisition and production processes with them as well as with designers, art directors, and production teams.
  • Manage mid- to high-level projects, keeping them on deadline while considering other interests such as market positioning and budget.
  • Communicate complex production schedules, working with various stakeholders to problem solve in creative ways.

  • Strong understanding of culinary processes and methods (direct experience in recipe writing and editing is a must)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with popular and emerging social media platforms
  • In-depth understanding of the intricacies of the acquiring process, and a strong record of acquisitions or editorial assignments
  • Direct experience taking multiple concurrent projects from conception to completion
  • Strong record of meeting deadlines with effective organization and prioritization skills
  • Diplomacy and sensitivity in handling delicate conversations with multiple parties within a collaborative environment
  • Extensive team coordination experience (including designers, photographers, and writer-author collaborations)
