Our team is made up of professionals, many with lived experience, who understand the challenges of addiction and the power of connection. With a mission to improve lives and a vision to redefine treatment, we're committed to creating lasting change in the communities we serve. Team Recovery is more than a treatment center. We're a new approach to an old problem. Job Summary: The Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program (VIOP) Therapist provides telehealth-based substance use and co-occurring mental health treatment services to adults participating in the Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). This position is responsible for facilitating group therapy sessions, providing individual therapy, completing assessments and ASAM level-of-care determinations, coordinating treatment planning, supporting prior authorization processes, and maintaining timely clinical documentation. This role collaborates closely with interdisciplinary team members to ensure quality care, treatment engagement, and compliance with Medicaid, CARF, Ohio Administrative Code, and agency standards. Core Responsibilities: Diagnose substance use disorders and/or co-occurring psychiatric disorders within scope of practice. Evaluate client functioning, clinical presentation, and treatment needs while participating in the development, implementation, updating, and review of individualized treatment plans based on ASAM criteria, medical necessity, and recommended level of care. Facilitate individual and group treatment services utilizing evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), psychoeducation, trauma-informed interventions, relapse prevention, emotional regulation, coping skill development, and recovery-oriented treatment approaches. Create and maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic treatment environment while maintaining appropriate group dynamics, therapeutic boundaries, emotional safety, and participation expectations within both virtual and in-person settings. Monitor client participation, treatment progress, emotional regulation, relapse risk, psychiatric stability, and ongoing appropriateness for continued treatment services. Assist clients in developing healthy coping skills, communication skills, relapse prevention strategies, emotional regulation techniques, recovery supports, and healthy lifestyle behaviors. Complete accurate, timely, clinically appropriate, and audit-ready documentation for all services rendered, including progress notes, treatment plans, treatment plan reviews, ASAM assessments, discharge summaries, and other required clinical documentation that demonstrates medical necessity, treatment plan linkage, interventions provided, client progress, and continued need for services. Verify and document telehealth appropriateness, client participation, and client location during virtual treatment services in accordance with agency policy and applicable regulations. Conduct outreach and follow-up efforts related to missed appointments, disengagement, barriers to treatment participation, and identified clinical concerns. Assist in de-escalating behavioral health crises and responding to emergencies while coordinating with appropriate emergency personnel and support systems when clinically indicated. Collaborate with psychiatry, medical providers, case management, peer recovery support, admissions, utilization review, and leadership staff to ensure continuity and coordination of care. Participate in departmental meetings, supervision, audits, trainings, quality improvement initiatives, and company meetings. Stay informed regarding current evidence-based practices, treatment modalities, behavioral health trends, and regulatory standards related to substance use and co-occurring mental health treatment. Assist in maintaining a safe and secure treatment environment for clients and staff.
