Accountant - Accounts Payable

Primary Purpose: The Accountant – Accounts Payable (AP) Process Owner is responsible for the ownership, governance, and continuous improvement of the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process.This role ensures accuracy, timeliness, compliance, and strong internal controls over all AP-related activities, while driving process efficiency, cost discipline, and adherence to Delegation of Authority (DOA).The position serves as the functional lead for AP operations, working cross-functionally with procurement, plant operations, and finance to improve cash management, vendor relationships, and financial integrity. Key Accountabilities: Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations. Own and oversee the end-to-end Accounts Payable process (invoice to payment) including invoice intake, validation, posting, and payment execution. Establish and enforce standardized AP procedures, policies, and controls across the organization. Ensure strict adherence to Delegation of Authority (DOA), approval workflows, and payment controls. Act as process owner for P2P, including issue resolution, escalation management, and stakeholder alignment. Prepare and analyze balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of variances. Perform variance analysis (budget vs. actual, prior period) and identify key business drivers. Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and DOA approval requirements. Support SOX compliance, audits, and documentation requirements. Collaborate with operations to provide financial insights and support cost improvement initiatives. Assist with financial reporting and KPI development for plant and corporate leadership. Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, automation, and data accuracy within financial systems.
